What does it mean to work with a real estate broker whose approach is grounded in design Management?

Methodology

Design management is a discipline that draws on strategy, design, research and project management to facilitate innovative and creative processes to achieve organizational goals.  These goals mostly rely on the core competencies associated with the field - sales & marketing - however design management dictates my approach.

In the real estate context,  I employ design management skills in the manner in which I uncover, help articulate and execute my client’s strategic objectives.   Instead of merely focusing on the transaction at hand, I help clients consider usage, lifestyle, aesthetics, maintenance costs, and holding periods all in the context of a an ever-changing market.  

As a design thinker, I practice and exist the real estate space with a nod to the triple bottom line- economic, social/cultural, and environmental responsibility.

How does Design Thinking come into play?

Design thinking is applied in how I execute.  For example, by operating and teaching my teams to function with heightened empathy, we are able to more effectively engage with clients, landlords, and other stakeholders.
